ABSTRACT
Two bacillus thuringiensis-based products, Foray 48b and Foray 76B, were applied at several rates and timings against larval blackheaded budworm (Acleris variana) to assess product efficacy in the Cape Breton highlands, N.S. Trials using standardized applications and research protocols determined that both products were effective in managing a blackheaded budworm outbreak. A double application at 30 BIU/ha or a single application at 60 BIU/ha were equally effective, based on insect count and tree defoliation data.
